I haven't attended MLA in a number of years and was happy to be back!I attended many interesting programs. I am starting a book club at my library this month, so I attended the program on launching a book club for seniors -- it was interesting to hear perspectives on things to do (and not [...]
I was sick throughout the conference and had difficulty hearing speakers. I also left several sessions early because my cough was a distraction for others. As a result, I gained far less from the event than I might have.I did work two two-hour sessions on the registration desk. I've always enjoyed this work because it [...]
This camp was the most enjoyable camp I have been to in the past 3 years. I think it was because it seemed very 'laid back' and easy going. Nothing seemed rushed and the atmosphere was relaxing. The speakers were thorough about what the day would entail and when we would do things, and again, [...]
This was my first time attending Camp Read-a-Lot and I went away with many new books and ideas to share with my students. I attended both days, but only reported on books for the Early Literacy Book List. It was great receiving clock hours for licensure! I had not seen Lauren Stringer or Laura Salas [...]
This year I did not submit any books that I read but I still got a lot out of the conference. I have started using some poetry after listening to Laura talk about poetry and children. It was something I had never tried and have been enjoying it. I always enjoy talking books with other [...]
This was my first year attending Camp Read-A-Lot and it was a great experience. I went to the Early Reader day. Laura Purdie Salas was an interesting and engaging speaker. Her poetry activities in the afternoon gave me some new ideas for future library programming. The picture book reading list has been an excellent resource. [...]
I had the pleasure of attending the third annual Koha-US Conference in Monterey, California, August 3-6, 2016. Although the weather didn’t turn out to be what I expected for summer in California, the conference more than made up for that. The event was hosted by the Monterey Public Library and followed the usual format of [...]
This was my third year attending Camp Read-a-Lot and I was not disappointed! The book lists this year were wonderful. There was only one book on the list of 45 books that I didn't like at all! Laurie Purdie Salas was the keynote speaker for the first day with Early Literacy books. She did a [...]
Camp Read A Lot 2016 was wonderful. I enjoyed both the author and the illustrator and enjoyed going outside of my comfort zone to learn and try my hand at poetry and illustrations. It was a fun, practical way to learn about both. I also enjoyed hearing about the process they use to create their books. [...]
This was the second year I attended Camp Read-a-Lot, and I was much more prepared for the conference this time. I started reading the children's books earlier in the spring so I could easily finish by early July. I attended both days of the conference and so read the Early Literacy book list and the [...]
