This was my third year attending Camp Read-a-Lot and I was not disappointed! The book lists this year were wonderful. There was only one book on the list of 45 books that I didn’t like at all! Laurie Purdie Salas was the keynote speaker for the first day with Early Literacy books. She did a great job talking about her writing process. She did a workshop with poetry in the afternoon. We wrote poems and had a fun time sharing our creativity with others.
On Day 2, Lauren Stringer was the keynote speaker. She also talked about her writing process, but unlike Laurie Salas, she illustrates books as well. She shared her illustrating process with us. In the afternoon Lauren Stringer did some poetry workshop activities that included folding origami and writing poems about that.
Both afternoon workshops gave me ideas that I could take back to the library and do some fun poetry activities with children.
