The SAMMIE Summer Reading program on April 1, 2016 was really helpful and definitely gave me the chance to try new things! We played three different board games, which was nice because it gave me the chance to try the games before buying them. Two of them were pretty difficult to play (but I'm sure [...]
This year’s Teen Summit was a fun event. It started with Lunch, which was pizza, cookies and carrot cake. Lunch was followed by a presentation about teen non-fiction. Some of the books that where highlighted are; Fatal Fever: Tracking down Typhoid Mary by Gail Jarrow, The case of the Vanishing little brown bats: a Scientific [...]
Attending the LibTech Conference 2016 was a fantastic opportunity. The amount of information was both exciting and staggering. I loved seeing the ways in which librarians are using technology and helping give access to technology to their patrons. Coding Clubs for Kids are a great opportunity to give children an understanding of an important process [...]
The 2016 LibTech Conference was another exceptional experience that I feel very fortunate to be able to attend. Thank YOU SAMMIE for continuing to make conferences, workshops, and training opportunities available to all of us through your scholarships. The Keynote speakers were excellent this year. Keynote speaker Safiya Umoja Noble, PhD, challenged all of us [...]

Here's one snippet from each session: 1) My first session [...]

The SAMMIE retreat was a chance to network with other librarians from SW MN libraries and help SAMMIE brainstorm ways to continue and/or improve services. There were great discussions as a large group, but I think most of the great conversations and brainstorming occurred in the small breakout groups. We all agreed that the scholarships, [...]
