I attended the Minnesota Library Association Conference on October 5-6, 2017 in Rochester, MN. It was a very good conference. I enjoyed learning about library programs across the state and getting the chance to meet librarians from around the state. My favorite sessions were "Queering the Stacks," "Let's talk about serving patrons with dementia," "Summer [...]

I attended the MLA Annual Conference in Rochester this past week. There were many break out sessions to choose from and I enjoyed the ones I attended. The best one I went to was put on by the Children & Nature Network and was called "Planting the Seeds of Learning: The Library as a Nature [...]

I attended the 2017 MLA Conference in Rochester, MN on Oct 5-6. The theme of this year’s conference was “Radical Librarianship.” I work in Pioneerland’s technical services division and therefore I attended a good number of sessions geared toward technical services. I think it is assumed that technical librarianship has little room to push the [...]

MLA-Rochester was a great conference. I have highlighted a couple of my favorites. Would Trader Joe's Hire You? Lessons from the Best Retailers was quite refreshing. [...]

Another great MLA conference! The sessions were informative and the keynote speakers were dynamic (especially the keynote on Friday). My favorite session was about using STEM/STEAM activities with toddlers. I have been experimenting with some science activities during story time, so this session was exactly what I needed. I have been trying to incorporate STEM [...]

I found the event very informative of what other Minnesota libraries are doing, and it was an excellent opportunity to network and exchange ideas. This year's featured and keynote speakers were also excellent. I felt that some of the other sessions could have benefited from better planning, rehearsal, and better descriptions in the official schedule [...]

While taking notes at the sessions, I starred things that I especially wanted to remember. I will share some of the ideas and suggestions that were important [...]
