I attended the Minnesota Library Association Conference on October 5-6, 2017 in Rochester, MN. It was a very good conference. I enjoyed learning about library programs across the state and getting the chance to meet librarians from around the state. My favorite sessions were “Queering the Stacks,” “Let’s talk about serving patrons with dementia,” “Summer Reading Program for Youth,” “RA Crutches,” and “So All May Read.” The keynote speakers were very good. Both speakers left me with many questions for self-reflection and when working with patrons about assumptions that may be incorrect and/or not knowing that I don’t know enough to meet the patron’s library needs. It was a good experience.
