Thank you so much Prairelands for this opportunity to return to MLA Conference in 2024. First Rochester is beautiful growing city and the ability to be in a hotel connected to the conference center by skyway was amazing. My colleague and I were able to explore and found this lovely homemade kitchen dinner/book store. All it took was a cart outside with books for sale and the smell of fresh cooked chicken trapped us like flies to a Venus Fly Trap.
Now to discuss the conference! This opportunity gave me the ability to connect and reconnect with new and old friends in the library field. I visited several panels hoping to grow our own small library and learned about Kanopy (an upcoming streaming service made to be free for the patron), Library Games (How to introduce games into your library and make a regular day a game show for patrons). These were my favorite two panels but it was great to visit others, to see and meet Mychal Threets and learn how he became a librarian and his amazing feats in the field and most importantly about his cats! They even had a miniature horse at the afterhours meet and greet at the Rochester Public Library. Again, thank you so much for giving me this opportunity and I cannot wait until next year!
