I attended two sessions and the Lightning Rounds. In addition, I made a presentation on the differences between public library systems in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Valerie Horton of Minitex gave a particularly useful presentation on innovation titled, “Skating on the Bleeding Edge.” She emphasized that library use is in decline and that libraries appear to be designing around out-dated technology. She referred us to several titles that I intend to read.

Marge Loch-Woutters, a retired children’s librarian from Wisconsin, gave an entertaining talk titled, “OOPS! My Ten Biggest Mistakes (and What I Learned).” This was a useful list of mistakes to avoid for new supervisors and a good reminder for those who are experienced at it.
