I attended the annual Koha-US Conference in Providence, RI September 2nd through the 5th. The conference was very informative and served to heighten my interest in pursuing some of the topics presented. The first day featured presentations on the history and adoption on Koha, the impact of regional user groups, and how to analyze collection usage. Day two featured Koha customizations for staff and examining user experience principles. Day three included using pseudonymization for statistics and privacy, using the new bookings module, and leveraging the Suggestions module. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend day four but the presentations included Acquisitions module usage, cataloging with BTCat, and the disruptive effect of generative AI on web-based library software. The conference also included sessions where attendees could work in small groups on issues of choice and share ideas and code as well as problem solve. I particularly enjoyed working with another participant on some jQuery code to enforce a form input format. He surprised me the next day with code he had written the night before to accomplish that goal! The main theme of the conference was collaboration and community. An added benefit of the conference was getting to meet developers in the Koha community.
