I attended the Association for Rural & Small Libraries Conference in Springfield, Massachusetts on September 11-14. This is the 2nd time attending this conference and I have to say it is well worth the time and money. The conference offers great sessions that are indeed applicable to the small & rural libraries. Sessions I attended this year include: Library Policies – What You Need & Why; When the Farm Came to the Library (presented by Rock County Library Director, Calla Jarvie); Evolve and Resolve – Survival Tips for New Library Directors; Ask an Attorney – Questions about Libraries & the Law; Outreach at Any Size; Strategic Planning for Every Library – a Cooperative Approach; Creative Aging – Serving Seniors through the Arts. I gained knowledge and ideas from each of these sessions that I will take back to my library and staff. I also had the opportunity to listen to keynote speaker – Emily Nagoski. Emily talked about Burnout & the Secret to Unlocking the Stress. She was phenomenal! THANK YOU, Prairielands for this great opportunity! |
