I was sick throughout the conference and had difficulty hearing speakers. I also left several sessions early because my cough was a distraction for others. As a result, I gained far less from the event than I might have.
I did work two two-hour sessions on the registration desk. I’ve always enjoyed this work because it gives me a chance to meet people I don’t know. As a new member of the Minnesota library community, this is a valuable opportunity. I was able to introduce myself to people I knew by name only and to spend quite a bit of time talking with a student at the St. Kate’s library school. I encourage others to take advantage of these opportunities, as well.
