Absolutely loved the opening Keynote, Mychal Threets. He was fun to listen to and made me think about how I can start training students to work in the Media Center. Fun fact we ended up walking with him to the conference from the hotel, what a nice person! I want to find out more about “Book Creator” to see if we can use it at our school. We were told to use the website and not the app because you lose some of the extras. It is FREE to teachers but for only 40 books. Ended up walking in late to Library Games because the session I wanted to attend the presenters were sick. This librarian has fun in her Media Center! She hides tokens in books and gives prizes. She finds faces on book covers and has students use part of it with theirs. She plays trivia with her students, and has time to have students escape electronic rooms. Maybe I could have the library open on Game nights at the middle school. Also loved to hear about the 18 years that Hastings has been doing One Book, One Read successfully. Would love to try something like that here, I will need to find time to do more networking. Met new people from public and school libraries and found a few old friends.
