The first session I attended this year at MLA was Reading the Art in Caldecott Award Books. It was very interesting to see how and why books receive the Caldecott Award. Not to mention, I got a bunch of good titles to get for my libraries.

I always enjoy 50 in 60 Book Blast. I liked how this year they gave us themed genres. It was great for me since I tend to overlook scary romantic books, books out of Africa, and anything Jane Austin. But Judging Books by Its Cover – gave me so many ideas for interactive displays.

My favorite session was Passive Programming. I do a lot of passive programs at my libraries but how they displayed them was impressive, using wall & window spaces. I will be looking into doing this at my libraries. I also appreciated how useful this session was. Whether you are new to passive programs or need new ways to bring these programs back to life at your library, these ladies had you covered. Great job! 🙂

Thank you SAMMIE for helping me attend MLA.
