Over the last month, I have worked through the online course created by Sphero to better learn how to utilize the Sphero SPRK+ robots that the library owns. The course taught me the basics of how to create programs using the draw, blocks, and text options. It also helped further explain what the terms on the blocks were indicating, such as how to actually utilize the gyroscope sensor, and when stabilization needs to be turned off. For anyone looking to implement Spheros, this course was a great introduction to them and provided lessons that they suggest for different age groups. For kindergarten through 2nd graders, they suggest Draw Lessons 1-3 and Blocks Lessons 1-2, among many others. For 3rd-5th graders, they suggest Blocks Lessons 1-4 and the Space Series, among others. For 6th-8th and high schoolers, they suggest the same Blocks Lessons, as well as Text Lessons 1-4 and various other lessons. These lessons were easy to follow and certainly helped me better understand these robots’ capabilities so that I can use them more fully in programs.
