This year’s MLA Conference was really fun and helped expose me to new programming ideas and resources, as well as some fantastic customer service suggestions and strategies. I attended both days, and I particularly enjoyed the session called “Teens are Human (and so can you)” which was run by staff at the St. Paul Public Library. They had some really good advice and suggestions about working with teens for those of us in the session with questions/concerns. I also enjoyed the session which discussed the American Indian Youth and Young Adult Core Book Collection bibliography which was compiled by the Minnesota American Indian Task Force in partnership with an MLIS class from St. Catherine University. A collection of the bibliography is in the process of being issued to three library systems in the state, which is awesome! I’m very thankful for this opportunity to attend MLA, and had a really good time connecting with other library staff from around the state.
