One important class that I took was “Developing and Sustaining After School Programming”. During this class I learned many new ideas for programs such as donut diorama, egg drop, etc.,  involving community workers within program such as donut diorama-police officer, egg drop-electric department, etc., teens need to be reminded things at least 7 times before they remember. Also try to make the library bigger to them than the walls that hold us in. Loved that line!
A lot of teens feel that the library is a safe place to go after school. They need the happy, calm, inviting atmosphere of the library. Think of starting a “teen-life” small club or a page on library website to help teens open up and feel good about talking tough topics when they might not know who else to turn to.
