This year was my second time attending Camp Read, but my first year attending both days. Last year I went to the picturebook day, so it was fun to talk about literature for older readers this year—especially YA. It’s a great opportunity to have thoughtful discussions with teachers and other librarians about a diverse array of children’s literature. Both Alison McGhee and Pete Hautman were engaging and interesting keynote speakers. McGhee shared a few writing exercises in the afternoon portion that I think will be great if we do a writing program for kids or teens. Overall it was a great experience and I can’t wait to see what’s on the reading list for next year!
