Thanks to SAMMIE for funding to support my trip to Baltimore, MD, for the Association of College & Research Libraries national conference. I attended a variety of learning experiences including panel presentations, conference paper presentations, roundtables, keynote speakers, and poster presentations.
I was also able to attend a pre-conference session focusing on Universal Design for Learning (UDL). This day-long session provided a great introduction to UDL practices, and served as an idea generator for some one-shot sessions I teach. During the conference, I attended two sessions highlighting the NMC Horizon Report: 2017 Library Edition. The speakers illuminated topics related to technology and libraries and accessibility and libraries that were in the report. The full report is available online: https://www.nmc.org/publication/nmc-horizon-report-2017-library-edition/ Sessions focusing on information literacy assessment practices were also on my agenda for the conference.
My colleague, Mara Wiggins, and I hosted a roundtable discussion around collaborating with other entities on campus within the library space. We highlighted our recent partnership with the Information Technology Helpdesk.
It was another great ACRL conference – always inspiring and thought provoking. I so appreciate SAMMIE’s continued support of librarian professional development!
