On a bright sunny day, off we went for a 10.5 hour drive to Springfield, IL, the Land of Lincoln. This year I did a pre-conference done by National Library of Medicine. Talked about PubMed and how to do a health reference interview. We even did some role playing in that one. They gave us pages and pages of trusted medical resources to use. Opening Session had President Abraham Lincoln speak. He told about his life and presidency. Very proud of his family. At noon we had Elizabeth Berg. We laughed until we couldn’t no more! She is very funny and a great speaker. Session time. “How Relevant is Your Library” taught us how to listen to our patrons and develop a culture of yes. Circulation was way down at the presenter’s library, he doubled it by making positive changes. Another great session was “Transform Your Storytime”. So many ideas, so little cost. Wonky Donkey anyone? LOL Another session that was really helpful was “Why Teach Coding”. I had received a grant and got some Bitsblocks for coding. Now I have ways to go about it and to make it a lot of fun too. Thank you Prairielands for the scholarship. I really enjoyed having the chance to go to Springfield and to also see President Lincoln’s Museum and Library
