Thanks to Prairielands, I was able to attend the Association for Rural & Small Libraries conference in Wichita, Kansas. The conference exceeded all of my expectations. The sessions I attended were all fantastic, informational and applicable to rural/small libraries. The sessions I chose to attend (out of many choices) included: Strategic Plan-It; Meeting People Where They Are – Libraries & Communities United; Adults Need to Play Too!; Calming the Chaos – Building Stronger Relationships with Challenging Library Patrons; Unite Against Book Bans; Moving From Space to Place – Use Transformative Placemaking to Reignite Your Library; Cheapskates Increasing Circulation; What About Your Friends; Building Equity-Based Summers for Libraries & Communities; Ignite Your Meetings – Bringing all Voices to the Table. All of the presenters were full of energy and knowledge. In addition to the great ideas I gained through the sessions I attended, the networking with fellow librarians was just as valuable. I am so thankful to have attended this conference for the first time this year and hope to be able to attend in years to come. I highly recommend it!
