ARSL is my favorite conference to attend. This year it was held in Burlington, VT. The first session I attended was “WHY-BRARIAN: How to connect to Your Best”. The session used information, insight and inspiration from Simon Sinek’s Golden Circle Concept. Jeremy Bloom talked about burn-out between us and our work or organizations we represent. WHY = Outer circle is What. We know what products or services we sell. How = They know how to do it to set them apart from others. Why = most do not know why they do what they do. Why is your purpose, cause or belief. It is why you do what you do. Find your why! I helped out in the YALSA booth also. Had the opportunity to talk to many teen librarians (AKA Head Librarians LOL). Seems everyone is looking for something to get the teens into the library.

Started Thursday morning off with a comedian. She was really good and got everyone pumped for the conference. Sandra Boynton was fantastic. Her two sons introduced her. She lives on a farm in New England. She was very entertaining with lots of laughs. Chris Bohjalian spoke to us on Friday. I have not read any of his books. After his talk, I may just have to try one.
I really want to thank Prairielands for offering these scholarships for us to attend continuing education opportunities.
